Ada Sage Etsell was born 9 January 1888 in Bayfield County Wisconsin. She was the 2nd of 4 children born to David and Rosa (Engleman) Etsell. The family moved to Seattle approximately 1899. Ada began the University of Washington in the 1907-1908 scholastic year. She was a member of the Women's Rowing Team, Tyee staff and other social activities.
